The exhibition 'IKEA, re-made' was undertaken as a type of design-driven innovation research project at UNIST. I focused on the IKEA product hacking to explore design-driven innovation based on the transformative nature of both.
IKEA product hacking is a user-driven design phenomenon by remaking or remanufacturing existing IKEA products. As experimental stimuli, I showcased a series of IKEA designs, developed and prototyped within the design research activity. As a Research through Design approach, three different blended hacks are designed around the IKEA Frosta Stool: Side Lamp, Snack Station, and Fidget Rocker. The Beanbag is designed from a Frakta bag to explore the impact of brand experience. This exhibition aimed to gather audience responses to the design concepts and functional prototypes on display. Audiences could use and explore all the prototypes.
